The music department at St. Patrick’s was delighted to learn that Conor Headley, a Year 13 student at the Armagh school, had performed really well during Portadown Music Festival. The 94th annual festival took place recently and after more than a week of top-class vocal and instrumental performances Conor came away with no less than eight awards!
Conor sang superbly wining the Grand Opera Class, the under 17 category for a piece by a 20th Century Composer, Set Singing Class for the 16-17 category and the Gilbert & Sullivan Class. Conor picked up the Ruth McGready Cup having been awarded the highest marks in these classes.
In addition, Conor also won the Rose bowl for Junior Vocalist, with a bonus cheque for £60.00! The Musician of the Year with a bonus of £250.00 and he won the boys’ open solo for vocalists under 17.
Fr Kevin Donaghy, Principal of St Patrick’s Grammar School congratulated Conor on his fantastic achievements and paid tribute to his talent and dedication. All at the school wish Conor the very best with his AS level exams, especially his music!
